Job Description
About Our Church: Grace Powell Church is located in Powell, Ohio (just north
of Columbus), a vibrant and thriving community that is one of the fastest-growing
suburbs in Ohio. Additionally, the local Olentangy school system ranks as the
4th largest school system in the state. With an emphasis on bible-based
teaching and community outreach, the church has been on a consistent growth
trajectory for several years and currently averages nearly 2,000 people during its
weekend worship services.
Position Title: Student Ministry Pastor
Reporting Relationship: The Pastor of Student Ministry reports directly to the
Lead Pastor and works closely with the Executive Director to implement his
ministry initiatives in conjunction with the overall strategy of the church.
Position Summary: The Pastor of Student Ministries provides spiritual
leadership in all areas related to students in grades 6 through 12 and their
families, while upholding the “Statement of Faith” as outlined in the Grace Powell
Church constitution.
Key Oversight Areas
Cast vision for all facets of Student Ministry;
Provide leadership and direction to the Student Ministry Team in
coordinating the weekly schedule that incorporates fellowship, worship,
spiritual growth and active evangelism;
Develop a long-term curriculum that exposes students to the Word of God
in multiple ways in order to fully develop and enhance their spiritual walk;
Oversee the necessary administrative tasks to implement the ministry,
including volunteer recruitment, activity planning, data collection,
communication, etc.;
Disciple and train a staff of adult volunteer workers to assume leadership
roles in the ministry;
Teach weekly and/or oversee lesson planning with other adult volunteer
leaders;
Meet with students and disciple them in their spiritual growth;
Follow up with parents to encourage and receive feedback; and
Plan and coordinate all activities related to student events, retreats,
summer trips and other outreach events.
Other Administrative Duties & Responsibilities
Attend weekly staff meeting and separate Pastoral meetings;
Create and implement annual Student Ministry budgets in conjunction with
the Executive Director;
Provide Student Ministry information for the Grace Powell Church website;
Oversee production of Student Ministry promotional materials (both written
and video);
Be responsible for keeping Student Ministry functions and activities in
agreement with all church policies; and
Work closely with other ministry leaders to ensure a coordinated approach
to the needs of the entire church family.
