Part-Time Director of Youth Ministry
Job Description
Position: Director of Youth Ministry
Hours: 10-15 per week
Salary: $20,000 annually, payable bi-monthly
Direct Supervisor: Pastor, Head of Staff
The Director of Youth Ministry’s primary responsibility will be to develop and coordinate a comprehensive relational ministry to and with high school and middle school students. This will be accomplished by working with staff at FPCA to provide the best possible ministry within the church, building a lasting partnership with youth, and challenging students to grow in their relationship to Jesus Christ and in mission to His kingdom.
Responsibilities include:
– Oversee all aspects of departmental creative processes and the development of ministry themes
– Implement provided curriculum, teacher training for Sunday School and other Youth events to equip students to grow spiritually through discipleship, small group and fellowship gatherings, Sunday School, and off-campus activities
– Maintain availability to meet with with youth and parents
– Work with a representative from the administrative team to oversee and upkeep policies and procedures, including background checks
– Recruit volunteers for service in Youth Ministry
– Oversee special event planning such as summer camps or other recurring events
– Encourage teachers and volunteers on a regular basis, celebrating the vision of the church
– Attend all required staff meetings and be staff support to the Discipleship team
– Develop, plan, implement and review all Youth Ministry programs.
– Create a weekly Sunday School lesson
– Create a weekly newsletter
– Create an FPCA chat group with Youth
– Work with Pastor, Head of Staff to set a vision for future growth in ministry to youth.
– Build and maintain social media platforms around youth
This is an important role to the ongoing success and life of FPCA. It requires active involvement in worship services and major church functions. Support and nurture of this position will be given by the pastoral staff, other program staff, church leadership and teams as well as the congregation.
Qualifications:
– Committed Christian
– Age 20 or older
– Background in a Reformed church is not mandatory, but must have an appreciation of following the Reformed tenets
– Advanced degree work or equivalent experience
– Proven ability to have have strong communication skills with both youth and parents
– Proven organizational skills involving people and programs
– Proven interpersonal skills, management and leadership qualities
– Exhibit self-motivation and innovation
– Strong computer and media skills are necessary
– Willingness to make a year-long commitment to the program and its youth
